What's included

  • Everything in the Amsterdam Travel Ticket (Schiphol train, bus 397, Niteliner N97, all GVB transport)
  • NS trains, 2nd class, across the Amsterdam region — including Haarlem, Zandvoort aan Zee, Hilversum, Almere, Lelystad, Naarden-Bussum, Bloemendaal and more
  • Bus 391 (Connexxion) to Zaanse Schans from Amsterdam Centraal
  • EBS buses 312/316 to Volendam and Edam from Amsterdam Centraal
  • NS train to Zandvoort aan Zee
  • During the Keukenhof season (mid-March to mid-May): Arriva bus 858 from Schiphol, 852 from Amsterdam Europaplein, 859 from Hoofddorp station, Connexxion 50 from Haarlem station

What's not included

  • Taxis
  • Hop-on / hop-off tourist buses

When is it worth it?

The Region ticket costs just €3 more than the standard Travel Ticket for a single day, and €10 more across three days. If you do one day trip — say, to Keukenhof or Zaanse Schans — it pays back instantly. NS train fares alone (Amsterdam ↔ Haarlem return) are around €8 per person.

Prices

  • 1 day: from €23
  • 2 days: from €34
  • 3 days: from €44
Worth knowing before you book
  • Voucher exchange needed. Like the standard Travel Ticket, this comes as an online voucher that you swap for an OV-chipkaart at the machines or service desks. Step-by-step guide.
  • Maximum 3 days. A common reviewer complaint is "we wished there was a 5- or 7-day version." For longer stays, a GVB 7-day ticket plus individual NS day-return tickets is usually cheaper.
  • Lost card = no refund. The provider can't replace your OV-chipkaart once issued. Keep it safe.
  • Check the Keukenhof window. The shuttle buses only run when the park is open (mid-March to mid-May). Outside that window, you still get all the other regional transport.

FAQ

Standard Travel Ticket = Amsterdam city + Schiphol airport. Region Travel Ticket = the same plus NS trains across the region (Haarlem, Zandvoort, Hilversum…), regional buses to Volendam/Edam/Zaanse Schans, and the Keukenhof shuttle buses during the season.

Yes, during the season (mid-March to mid-May). Valid lines: Arriva 858 from Schiphol, 852 from Amsterdam Europaplein, 859 from Hoofddorp station, Connexxion 50 from Haarlem station.

Under-4s ride free. Children 4–11 need their own ticket — there is no child variant of the Region Travel Ticket. Buy them the GVB Day Ticket Child (€5) for each day they need regional transport, or use the OV-chipkaart child fares for NS train hops.
